Tottenham want to send Jenas out on loan

Thursday 06 September 2012

Tottenham Hotspur Head Coach Andre Villas-Boas will send midfielder Jermaine Jenas on loan to a Championship side in an effort to get the former England international some regular first team football, the Daily Mirror has reported.

Jenas last summer moved to Aston Villa on a season-long loan but his time in the Midlands came to an abrupt end when Jenas suffered an ankle injury. He was expected to join Sunderland on loan during this transfer window but the deal collapsed at the 11th hour over what the Mirror describes as personal reasons.

The loan window for moves to the Football League opens this weekend and the newspaper adds that Spurs want to send Jenas to a side in the Championship, although no potential destination is mooted.

Jenas has made more than 200 appearances for Tottenham since leaving Newcastle for White Hart Lane in 2005. The 29-year-old began his career with Nottingham Forest, leaving his first club for Newcastle in February 2002.
