Tottenham consider January move for Ganso

By Andrew Tuft

Saturday 08 September 2012

The transfer window may have only recently closed but Tottenham Hotspur are already plotting their January business, as the Daily Mirror reports the club will turn to Brazil midfielder Paulo Henrique Ganso after missing out on Joao Moutinho.

Spurs Head Coach Andre Villas-Boas pursued Moutinho through the summer but a deal could not be completed before the transfer deadline passed. Tottenham did however sign Jan Vertonghen from Ajax, Gylfi Sigurdsson from Hoffenheim, Lyon goalkeeper Hugo Lloris and Fulham forward Clint Dempsey - the latter pair on deadline day itself.

But rather than turn his attention back to Moutinho when the market reopens in January, the Mirror claims that Villas-Boas will attempt to sign Ganso, currently of Brazilian giants Santos. The 22-year-old, capped eight times by Brazil, is said by the newspaper to be available for around £8m - although the move would be complicated by Ganso’s third-party ownership, a situation that would contravene Premier League regulations.
