Rooney wants 10 more years at Man Utd

Wayne Rooney wants to spend the next 10 years of his career at Manchester United, the Independent has reported, having already spent a nearly decade at Old Trafford following his move from Everton in 2004.
Rooney, 26, put in a transfer request to leave United two years ago but withdrew it within days and signed a new five-year contract, recently describing the decision to ask to leave the club as the biggest mistake of his career. The Independent notes there has been increased speculation over his future at the club in recent weeks but Rooney insists he is not entertaining any thought of leaving.
Asked where he saw himself in 10 years’ time, Rooney said: “Hopefully, still here at Man Utd. That's the aim, the plan and what I want to do. As long as this club wants me, I'll be here and trying to be successful.”
Rooney added that he did not feel threatened by United’s signing of Arsenal striker Robin van Persie, dismissing suggestions that the Dutchman’s presence could hasten the end of his United career, as had been mooted in some quarters.
“I saw that but I didn't think anything of it. If the manager didn't want me around, I'm sure I'd be the first one he'd tell. That stuff you have to deal with but if I'm wanted at this football club, I'll be at this football club as long as possible,” Rooney said.
