Deschamps full of praise for Diaby

Sunday 09 September 2012

France Coach Didier Deschamps hailed Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby as ‘the complete midfielder’ following his impressive display in France’s 1-0 win over Finland, The Daily Mail reports.

Diaby only played five times for Arsenal last season, because of a string of injury problems, but he has got back to full fitness and played in the first three fixtures for the Gunners. The French international was impressive at Anfield in Arsenal’s last victory over Liverpool and continued that form to international duty with a goal and a great performance for Les Bleus. Diaby’s strike gave France the victory in Helsinki on Friday night and Deschamps was full of praise for the 26 year old.

The French Coach said: “He is a boy with a lot of qualities, I knew that. He is a complete midfielder.”

Lille midfielder Rio Mavuba also praised his central midfield partner and described him as ‘indispensable to the France squad’. France are in battle with reigning World and European champions Spain in their qualifying group and a win in Helsinki gets them off to a positive start.

Les Bleus host Belarus at the Stade de France on Tuesday in their second qualifier and Deschamps is hopeful Diaby can shake off the fatigue he suffered in the Finland victory.
