Ferguson wants to bring Ronaldo back to Man Utd

Monday 10 September 2012

Sir Alex Ferguson is to ask the Manchester United board to bring Cristiano Ronaldo back to the club from Real Madrid regardless of the money it takes, the Daily Mirror has reported.

Ronaldo has publically confirmed his unhappiness at the Spanish champions, with the Mirror claiming rumours in Spain put the Portuguese forward’s discontent down to either a feeling of disrespect from his teammates or Madrid’s refusal to offer him a contract worth £500,000 per week.

The newspaper adds that Ferguson insisted to Ronaldo when he left Old Trafford three years ago that if he ever considered departing Madrid, he should return to United. But the club are waiting to find out the extent of Ronaldo’s concern - whether or not it is legitimate and strong enough to lead to an exit from Madrid, a case of Ronaldo sulking over a minor issue or more of a negotiating ploy over a new deal.

Ronaldo moved to Madrid in 2009 for a world-record £80m fee, with the Mirror suggesting it would take £100m to pull the 27-year-old back to the Premier League. In his time in Spain, Ronaldo has scored 150 goals in 149 games.
