Lloris to ask for talks with Tottenham boss Villas-Boas

By Adam Mazrani

Monday 10 September 2012

After Andre Villas-Boas’ declaration that Tottenham’s new signing Hugo Lloris would not be displacing veteran Brad Friedel as Spurs’ No 1 goalkeeper, the Daily Mail reports that the French skipper is set to demand talks with manager Villas-Boas on his status at the club when he returns from his international commitments.

Lloris arrived at White Hart Lane in the final hours of transfer deadline day with a reputation as one of the best goalkeepers in Europe but Villas-Boas’ faith in 41 year old Friedel appears to have already caused anger from within the Lloris camp. After his international boss Didier Deschamps criticised Villas-Boas for his handling of the situation, Lloris himself offered his thoughts on his current Spurs predicament.

When I join up with the national team, I concentrate uniquely and we’ll see about my personal situation when I go back,” Lloris said. “Obviously it is not nice if the coach says he will pick someone else for the first team, but we can see what happens. for now, I have to put the situation to one side as France have important matches and I cannot worry about what might happen at my club.

Lloris, 25, has 39 caps for France and first captained his country against England in a 2-1 victory at Wembley in November 2010, before being made permanent captain by previous manager Laurent Blanc in February 2012.
