Diaby injury nightmare returns as Arsenal midfielder suffers muscle injury

Tuesday 11 September 2012

Abou Diaby’s encouraging start to the season has been checked by a muscle injury suffered on international duty with France that will force the Arsenal midfielder to miss his country’s World Cup qualifier against Belarus, the Daily Telegraph has reported.

France Coach Didier Deschamps revealed that Diaby has been unable to train due to the injury, which, the World Cup winning player noted, has left Diaby unable to move freely. The timing of the injury will be almost as damaging as it comes just days after Diaby scored the only goal of the game in France’s 1-0 victory over Finland.

After missing almost the entirety of last season through various major and minor fitness issues Diaby has returned to the fold for the Gunners in the new campaign, with the Telegraph claiming the 26-year-old has been vital to his club’s decent start to the new term.

Diaby has started all three of Arsenal’s Premier League games thus far, completing 90 minutes in the two most recent against Stoke City and Liverpool, and playing more than an hour on the opening day against Sunderland. In doing so, Diaby has played almost as many matches already this year as he did last, when injuries restricted him to just four appearances.
