Lloris ready to fight for his place at Tottenham

Thursday 13 September 2012

Hugo Lloris has vowed to work hard to dislodge fellow goalkeeper Brad Friedel at Tottenham Hotspur, the Daily Mirror has reported. The France international was signed by Head Coach Andre Villas-Boas on transfer deadline day only to be informed soon after that he was bought as back-up to the veteran former United States custodian.

Lloris, who cost Tottenham in the region of £12m, did not take kindly to hearing that he was viewed as the club’s No. 2 but after a spell away with France, where he again wore the captain’s armband, the former Lyon goalkeeper has said he will do what it takes to win over any doubters and prove he should be Spurs’ first choice.

I am going to discover another world, another championship and another mentality,” Lloris said, adding: “That is positive and I am going to get to know my knew teammates and staff, and I am going to work as well as I can.

There are a lot of things for me to prove over there. I am going to strive for success, Lloris insisted.

Lloris has 40 international caps to his name after making his Les Bleus debut in 2008. He was named as captain by former Coach Laurent Blanc, while another of France’s World Cup-winning side of 1998, Didier Deschamps, has thus far kept Lloris as captain of the national team after replacing the ex-Manchester United defender.
