Man Utd legend Giggs desperate to regain title from Man City

Friday 14 September 2012

Record Manchester United appearance holder Ryan Giggs has spoken of the club’s determination to wrestle the Premier League title back from bitter rivals and neighbours Manchester City, after the Red Devils were agonisingly thwarted last season by City’s two late goals in the dying moments against QPR.

According to the Daily Mail, Giggs believes that after a shaky start to the season that has seen United defeated in their opening game at Everton, struggle to see off Fulham 3-2 at home before only coming away with the three points from Southampton in their last match due to a late double from Robin van Persie, United are now ready to hit top gear in their title challenge.

The lads can’t wait to produce some of the football that we did last year,” said Giggs. “What happened last season was tough for everyone but you just have to come back in the right manner, which is what we hope to do. It is going to be tough because there are a lot of quality teams out there but you are always determined. We want to get it back.

Giggs pointed to the immediate impact of new signings van Persie and Shinji Kagawa as proof that his side mean business. “You hope the big players you sign fit in straight away. Sometimes it doesn’t happen. With Shinji and Robin it has happened straight away, which is great. It gives everyone a lift in the squad. Training is a lot sharper and we are all fighting for places, which is what you want. It just ups the performance level.

Welshman Giggs, 38, will make his 600th Premier League appearance, more than any other player, if he gets a run out as United take on Wigan at Old Trafford in their first match after the international break.
