Reading vs Tottenham - Match preview and team news

Sunday 16 September 2012

Tottenham make the short trip to the Madejski Stadium in desperate need of a first three points in the Andre Villas-Boas era.

Spurs come into the game on the back of two draws and a defeat in their first three Premier League clashes of the season. Pressure has already begun to mount on the new Portuguese Coach, but he will be aided by a number of new signings on Sunday.

Reading are also searching for their first victory, having drawn one and lost one, including in a positive performance away to Chelsea.

Tottenham will give a debut to new signing Clint Dempsey up-front, whilst another new signing, France captain Hugo Lloris, will have to be content with a place on the bench, as Brad Friedel continues to impress in goal. Mousa Dembele will make his first start of his Tottenham career, having come off the bench to score on his debut at home to Norwich last time around. Younes Kaboul and Scott Parker will both miss out with longterm injuries.

For Reading, Jimmy Kebe is set to return from a hamstring injury, and could take his place on the wing. Adam Federici has been a doubt this week, yet is set to recover in time to retain his place. Striker Jason Roberts will continue to miss out with a knee injury.
