Arsenal and England midfielder Jack Wilshere looks set to finally return to full training this week, 13 months since the 20-year-old made his last appearance on the football field in a pre-season match for the Gunners.

According to the Daily Mirror, Wilshere will resume full training once the Arsenal first team return from their opening Champions League tie with Montpellier on Wednesday. Arsene Wenger is keen not to place too much expectation on Wilshere’s return and will not rush him back into match action.

Before spending the entire last campaign out injured, Wilshere enjoyed a breakthrough 2010-11 season where he won the Arsenal.com “player of the season” as he made 49 appearances in all competitions, grabbing three goals and nine assists

Wilshere’s club success brought international recognition, with the then England manager Fabio Capello giving him five appearances for his country, four of which as a starter as England’s main midfield playmaker.
