Tottenham vs Lazio - Match preview and team news

By A Different League staff

Thursday 20 September 2012

Andre Villas-Boas will be looking emulate the success achieved in his last full season in management, when he won the Europa League with Porto in 2011 - the first obstacle will be high-flying Lazio at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham's 3-1 away victory over Reading at the weekend helped relieve the pressure on the new Spurs boss, and move them into the top half of the table. They will be looking to continue that momentum against a Lazio side who have won all five competitive matches this season, including three away from home.

Behind much of Lazio's success this season has been Brazilian playmaker Hernanes, who will play an advanced midfield position, providing support to sole striker Miroslav Klose, who has three goals in as many games this season.

Tottenham will give a debut to £12m goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, as well as a likely start for Clint Dempsey. Emmanuel Adebayor is set to miss out with a hamstring injury. Kyle Naughton will continue to play in place of Benoit Assou-Ekotto, who's injury looks like it could keep him out for a significant spell.
