Wenger hopes for quick resolution to Walcott's Arsenal future

Arsene Wenger has suggested that the future of Theo Walcott at Arsenal will become clear in the next two months, ESPN has reported.

The England international is in the final year of his contract at the Emirates Stadium and has so far been unable to agree terms on a fresh deal, casting into doubt his long-term prospects. Robin van Persie was in a similar situation over the summer and Wenger sanctioned his sale to Manchester United, one of Arsenal’s rivals at the top of the table and the first time in some years a player has moved from the Gunners to Old Trafford.

Wenger was reluctant to confirm either way the possibility that Walcott could be sold in January to avoid the chance he might leave for free in the summer, only saying that he hopes the two sides can come to an agreement sooner rather than later.

He added: “Let’s hope we can find a solution in the next two months. [Selling Walcott in January] will depend on the needs of the team and the club. We can afford to go to the end [of the contract] if needed.
