Man City fears grow for Milner toe injury

By Adam Mazrani

Monday 24 September 2012

James Milner is to undergo a scan on Monday on his injured toe after the knock prevented him from featuring in Manchester City’s last two matches away at Real Madrid in the Champions League and the home league draw with Arsenal.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Milner has now been ruled out of Tuesday’s Capital One Cup third round clash with Aston Villa as Roberto Mancini awaits the results of the scan.

With Maicon and Micah Richards currently on the treatment table, the prospect of Milner, who is able to play across the entire right-hand side of the pitch, being absent for several weeks is an alarming one not only for club but for his country.

Milner is a favourite of Three Lions boss Roy Hodgson and has started every single competitive match for England under Hodgson’s reign. Indeed, Milner recently grabbed his first goal for his country with the fourth goal of England’s 5-0 victory over Moldova in their opening World Cup qualification clash.
