Arteta banking on Arsenal away form to build title challenge

Mikel Arteta believes Arsenal are showing the away form of genuine challengers for the Premier League in light of their 1-1 draw at the current champions, Manchester City, the Daily Telegraph has reported.
A Joleon Lescott header put the home side in front before half-time, despite Arsenal appearing to have the better of the opening 45 minutes. Laurent Koscielny equalised with less than 10 minutes left to play to preserve the Gunners’ unbeaten start to the season, which has seen them on their travels draw twice and win once thus far.
Arteta added that he felt Arsenal could have had three wins from three away from home, such has been the standard of their performances, but insisted that if they can maintain the sort of form they have shown lately until after the turn of the year, they will be contenders for the title.
He said: “There has been a confidence boost for everyone because we have already been to three of the toughest places you can go - Liverpool, Manchester City and Stoke - and I think we deserved to win all of them.
“What we are trying to do is get as close as we can and keep building that belief that we are as good as the Manchester clubs. If we carry on until March or April when it is really tight and hang in there, I think the spirit we have got in this team can get us something.”
Arteta moved to Arsenal a year ago and captained the side against City in the absence of regular skipper Thomas Vermaelen. Prior to moving to the Emirates Stadium, Arteta spent six-and-a-half years at Everton, captaining the Toffees on a number of occasions as well.
