Mancini plans Man City changes for Capital One Cup clash

Tuesday 25 September 2012

Roberto Mancini has said that he is planning to make a myriad of changes for Manchester City’s Capital One Cup third round clash with Aston Villa on Tuesday night.

According to the Daily Mail, Mancini is said to hand starts to fringe players Mario Balotelli, Aleksander Kolarov and Matija Nastasic as well as youngsters Denis Suarez, Abdul Razaq and Luca Scapuzzi.

We can't play with the same players,” said Mancini. “We need to recover because afterwards we have another hard game in London (away at Fulham on the weekend). We will change all the players if it's possible. We are unlucky with the draw because we always get difficult games.

Mancini is prioritising his side’s defence of the Premier League title and progression in the Champions League and so is likely to completely reshape his team for the clash with Villa, which comes only three days after City’s tough 1-1 draw with Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium.

We want to win again the championship, that's our target,” Mancini added. “If we win also the Capital One Cup, then okay, but the target should be the championship again.

Manchester City have endured a shaky start to the season despite remaining unbeaten so far, with two tight victories against Southampton and QPR between draws with Liverpool, Stoke and Arsenal. City’s European campaign also ended on a sour note with their late defeat in the Bernabeu to Real Madrid and Jose Mourinho.
