Chelsea’s Marin warns Arsenal to expect tough game

Thursday 27 September 2012

Marko Marin expects a tough game for Chelsea when they face Arsenal this weekend, but the Germany international believes it will be just as difficult for the Gunners, the Daily Mirror has reported.

Both sides racked up six goals in midweek Capital One Cup victories - Chelsea doing so against Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers, Arsenal against League One strugglers Coventry City - and Marin, who made his Chelsea debut against Wolves, believes the Gunners have yet to face a side as good as Chelsea.

That is despite Arsenal last weekend taking a point from the home of the champions, Manchester City. Marin said: “I am not sure that Arsenal have played against a good team like us.

Marin also warned international colleague Lukas Podolski to be wary of Chelsea right-back Branislav Ivanovic when the two are in direct opposition during the forthcoming match. “ And it will be more hard for Lukas. Will he be a threat? I think we have a very good defence. Our right-back, Branislav, he will do very well. It will be very hard for Lukas to play against him,” Marin added.

Having moved to Chelsea from Werder Bremen over the summer, Marin was forced to wait for his competitive debut after a long-standing injury. He is also a former teammate of another Arsenal player, centre-back Per Mertesacker.
