Marin believes Chelsea can win the Premier League

By Andrew Tuft

Thursday 27 September 2012

Marko Marin believes he has joined a squad capable of winning the Premier League, Sporting Life has reported, as the Germany international waxes lyrical about the Blues having finally made his debut following his summer move from Werder Bremen.

Marin’s first appearance in a Chelsea shirt in a competitive game was delayed by injury but the 23-year-old came off the bench during Chelsea’s Capital One Cup victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday.

But now, having played 20 minutes for the club and seen the transfer window close to bring an end to a hectic pre-season at Stamford Bridge, Marin feels he is in a position to comment on the strength in depth of the Chelsea squad.

And Marin is not setting his sights low, discussing what it would take for Chelsea to both win the Premier League for the first time since 2009-10 and also retain the Champions League trophy won last season.

Marin said: “If you are to win the Premier League and Champions League, you need a lot of quality players. Chelsea have changed a lot since last season and now we have more attractive and offensive players. We hope that there are a lot of goals in this team because then it is more difficult for the other teams to play against us.
