Bould praises improvement of Arsenal forward Gervinho

Thursday 04 October 2012

Steve Bould has predicted Gervinho will keep getting better as the Arsenal forward got on the score sheet again, this time netting in the Gunners' 3-1 Champions League win over Olympiakos, the BBC has reported.

Gervinho

The Ivory Coast international made a difficult start to life in the Premier League last season, finding some form early in his Arsenal career but tailing off as the season went on, spending most of the campaign player as a winger rather than a striker.

But the BBC notes that most of Gervinho’s appearances this season have come playing through the middle, following the departure of Robin van Persie to Manchester United and the slow progress of Olivier Giroud, who was bought from Montpellier. Gervinho has responded to his new role with five goals in seven games, more than he managed in the entirety of last season.

Bould added that one of the main reasons Gervinho is scoring so prolifically is he believes in himself once more. The assistant manager said: “He is scoring goals so his confidence is sky high. He is a danger with his pace and movement - he could be a top player.
