West Brom v QPR - Match preview and team news
West Brom welcome rock-bottom QPR looking to preserve their 100% home record in the league this season, a run where they have also yet to concede. The Baggies’ impressive form has certainly poured scorn on the perceived questions on whether new Head Coach Steve Clarke could make the step up to the number one role after so long as an assistant and the 49 year old will certainly go into this fixture confident that his side can continue their early-season form.
The Baggies do have injury problems however, with Chris Brunt and Billy Jones missing after they both picked up knocks during last week’s 1-1 draw with Midlands rivals Aston Villa while Steven Reid remains a long-term absentee. However, Clarke can call upon Peter Odemwingie again after a three game ban and must decide whether to put the Nigeria international straight into the team ahead of Shane Long and Romelu Lukaku.
QPR remain without a win in the league this season and slipped to the bottom after a demoralising defeat at home to West Ham on Monday night. Manager Mark Hughes appears to be struggling to gel his 11 new signings together in a coherent team, although he is certainly not helped by the ill-discipline of his players, with Samba Diakite serving a ban following his dismissal against the Hammers.
Elsewhere, there are doubts over defenders Jose Bosingwa, Anton Ferdinand and Armand Traore with the latter almost certain to miss out, while Adel Taarabt may be given a start after his stunning goal from the substitutes bench, albeit in vain, on Monday night.
