The Liberty Stadium plays host to two sides both desperate for a win to gather some momentum and help turn their ailing seasons around before it becomes too late. Hosts Swansea have hit the skids after an impressive start under Michael Laudrup that had almost everyone purring over their displays.

The Swans have only taken one point from their last four league games and have failed to score since September 1 in their 2-2 draw with Sunderland. Indeed, Laudrup has spoken of his particular disappointment in his side’s performances against Everton and Stoke, which saw five goals conceded without a Swansea player finding a riposte.

Undoubtedly, Laudrup will want influential central-defender Ashley Williams to recover from illness and ankle trouble to play for what he describes as a “six pointer”, while Wayne Routledge could return to the starting 11. Kemy Augestien, Kyle Bartley and Neil Taylor remain out.

Joint-bottom Reading counted themselves unlucky to only take a point from their clash with Newcastle at the Madejski last week and manager Brian McDermott will be encouraged by his side’s display after a couple of anaemic performances. The Royals have veteran striker Jason Roberts pushing for a start after almost his swashbuckling cameo return from injury as a substitute last week.

Elsewhere, midfielder Mikele Leigertwood is doubtful after suffering a dead leg against Newcastle while Alex McCarthy is set to remain in goal with regular first choice Adam Federici still absent with a knee problem.
