Porto midfielder Joao Moutinho has told Tottenham to forget about making any advances to sign him in the January transfer window, The Daily Star reports.

Moutinho was the target of Villas-Boas’ affections on transfer deadline day, but that move collapsed at the 11th hour and the Spurs boss was looking to make another move in January. Spurs lost Luka Modric to Real Madrid in the summer and Villas-Boas wants to recruit in central midfield. However, the Portuguese international has ruled out a switch to the Premier League and wants to continue at Porto, who are currently second in the Portuguese top-flight.

The 26 year old said: “I’ve made the decision to stay at Porto. I’m happy.” Pini Zahavi, the player’s agent, has indicated that Moutinho could follow former Porto teammate Hulk to Russian side Zenit at the end of the season and snub the advances from White Hart Lane. Villas-Boas’ side entertain Aston Villa this weekend after their 1-1 draw in the Europa League on Thursday and Spurs will be looking to continue their impressive form from their last game, a 3-2 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford.
