Arsenal goalkeeper Vito Mannone has revealed that he has uncertain about his long-term future at the club, with the Mirror reporting that Arsene Wenger and the Arsenal hierarchy have yet to come forward with a new deal for the Italian stopper, which currently expires next season.

Mannone started the season as Arsenal’s third choice between the sticks and after loan spells at Championship side Hull City last season, had been expected to leave North London this summer. However, injuries to Wojciech Szczesny and Lukas Fabianksi has seen Wenger turn to Mannone for five of the first seven Premier League fixtures and the Desio-born keeper has had a hand in the Gunners’ impressive start to the season.

However, Mannone has since revealed that he is yet to begin discussions on his future.

“Neither myself nor anyone from my family or friends have spoken about any deal,” the 24-year-old told Arsenal.com. “At the moment I am really happy and just focusing on training and playing well.”

Mannone would go on to reveal his thanks to Arsene Wenger for allowing him the opportunity to first remain at the club this summer but then instate him as first choice in the absence of Szczesny and Fabianski.

“The boss has given me the chance. I have to keep going and prove myself in every single game. This is my best time at Arsenal so I would crazy to not take the chance to put up a fight for my place.”
