Chelsea captain Terry expected not to appeal four-game ban

Chelsea captain John Terry is likely to waive his chance to appeal the four-game ban handed to him by the Football Association for being found to have racially abused Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand, the Daily Mail has reported.
The newspaper adds that should Terry choose to bring the case to an end it will not be an admission of guilt or wrong-doing by the former England international, but rather an attempt to prevent the name of his club and football in general being dragged further through the mud.
Terry is said to still feel the FA should not have pursued their case once he was cleared of a crime in Westminster Magistrates Court, but an independent panel found Terry to have racially abused Ferdinand and a four-game ban, plus fine of over £200,000, was the punishment.
The ex-England captain is also likely to face internal discipline from his club once the case is finally at an end, which could come through Terry accepting his punishment. If he does so, then Terry will be unavailable to play Tottenham Hotspur or Manchester United, who Chelsea meet during the time of Terry’s suspension.
