Villas-Boas calls for vocal Tottenham support against Chelsea

Andre Villas-Boas wants the Tottenham Hotspur supporters to turn White Hart Lane into a cauldron of noise when Chelsea are the visitors in the Premier League, after the international break, the Daily Mirror has reported.

Villas-Boas spent less than a year in charge at Chelsea, having been appointed at Stamford Bridge in June 2011 and sacked by Roman Abramovich in March 2012. Replacing Harry Redknapp at Tottenham this summer, Villas-Boas has come through a hesitant start to guide Spurs to a run of four consecutive league victories.

Tottenham’s unbeaten run stretches back even further, to the opening day of the season, when the club tasted their only loss under Villas-Boas against Newcastle United. Since then, Spurs have drawn four times and won five, including an historic victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford, Spurs’ first for 23 years.

And while Villas-Boas said he anticipated an exciting game when the two London rivals meet, he admitted he wanted the Tottenham fans to generate noise to intimidate Chelsea. Villas-Boas added: “When this stadium rocks, it rocks. We have to make sure that we raise that intensity.
