Saturday 13 October 2012

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has given the club permission to complete the deal for Atletico Madrid hotshot Radamel Falcao in the January transfer window.

Radamel Falcao

According to the Daily Mail, the prolific Colombia international has been on Abramovich’s radar ever since he almost single-handedly destroyed the Blues by scoring a hat-trick in Atletico’s 4-1 Super Cup victory over Chelsea.

The European champions currently only have Fernando Torres available as their lone senior striker with reserve Daniel Sturridge injured and possibly on his way out of Stamford Bridge in the January window if transfer rumours are to believed.

Falcao’s release clause is currently set at £46 million but with Abramovich on side, the Chelsea hierarchy will be confident of getting their man.

The former Porto man has been in sensational form over the last 12 months, hitting 36 goals in 50 appearances in all competitions at the Vicente Calderon last season, while the 26-year-old has already scored 11 goals in seven fixtures this term.
