The Top 10 Manchester Utd blog awards - Results

By Tim Doel

Monday 29 March 2010

As part of our new series of articles detailing the best of the web, A Different League has been researching the Manchester United blogosphere, and come up with a list of the 10 best Man Utd blogs, based on site design, quality of content, and regularity of blog posting. Republic of MancuniaNominations were invited from A Different League readers last month and the top 10 has now been decided. The Man Utd blog category is a strong one compared to the rest of the Premier League, therefore those that have made it to the top 10 can really be classed as the cream of the crop, and congratulations to all of them. It was a tight contest with a number of different types of blogs - Man United Youth concentrating on the progress of United's famous youth set-up, and United or Death, an light-hearted and alternative approach from America, both showing the variation. There have to be winners however; Fourth spot was shared by two quality sites, Taylor Rockwell's Man Utd blog at The Offside, and the popular Stretford-end.com. There is no third place as such this year, as there is a tie on second, between Trulyreds.com and Unitedrant.co.uk, both on 8/10 average. Trulyreds impressed in its ability to tackle important issues in a clever and informative way, and shared with its partner in 2nd an excellent approach to the Glazers situation that has divided Man Utd bloggers, at least in the extent they cover it. Unitedrant also gets points for its innovation, being one of very few blogs that includes a weekly podcast discussing the major issues. But first place goes to the site that many saw as the frontrunner, and for good reason. With 9/10 points average the winner of the Best Man Utd blogs 2010 is The Republic of Mancunia. Articles here are thought-provoking and well written, but also meticulously researched by Scott the Red. Additionally there is a large community of United fans, resulting in debate both in the comments sections, but also in a buzzing forum. Well done to The Republic of Mancunia.
