Terry injured and could be out for the World Cup

By Tim Doel

Wednesday 12 May 2010

Sky News is reporting that England and Chelsea defender John Terry has suffered a broken metatarsal, and could be a doubt for the World Cup in South Africa.

The Chelsea captain was rushed to hospital this afternoon after going down in training, and Fabio Capello and the England staff are anxiously waiting for further indications of how serious it may be.

The injury will keep Terry out of the FA Cup final this weekend, and could pose further selection problems for England who already have doubts over injuries with Rio Ferdinand and Gareth Barry.

The official Chelsea website said that "John Terry has today taken a knock in training and has gone to hospital for a precautionary scan on his right foot." Results are expected on Thursday.

UPDATE:

John Terry has had his precautionary scan, and told Sky News that there is no break, and he may return in time for the FA Cup final. Read more...

Hi guys, a little clarification. In fairness, Sky Sports original ticker on their website said the words: "Sky Sports News understands John Terry has suffered a broken metatarsal" Since then they have revised it down slightly, and now say: "early reports suggest the centre-half has broken a bone in his foot."

Sky News have said that he has had a foot injury... not a broken metatarsal...GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT!!

No they haven't said that on Sky. They have reported he has sufferd a foot injury and has gone to hospital for a precautionary scan. Read the official Chelsea website. You should get your facts right before scare mongering. If he has broken it, then it is sad news for England.
