Tottenham news - Van der Vaart: "I can hardly believe it", Sandro talks on Spurs move, Gudjohnsen joins Stoke

By Luke Ricketts

Wednesday 01 September 2010

Every morning A Different League searches the nations press to bring you the latest goings on at Tottenham. Today:

Van der Vaart: "I can hardly believe it".

Tottenham Hotspur are still unsure if they have secured the services of Rafael Van der Vaart despite the transfer window closing yesterday. Harry Redknapp was only made aware of the Dutchman’s availability late on deadline day but was quick to put a deal in motion. Spurs have offered the midfielder a contract worth €11 million over four years and it is understood he is ready and willing to take up the offer and ply his trade in the Premier League. He told De Telegraaf: “Four years at Spurs, for €11 million, I can hardly believe it myself.”

Sandro talks on Spurs move.

Spurs’ Brazilian import Sandro has finally arrived in England and has begun training according to ESPN. Harry Redknapp was annoyed at the late arrival of the 21-year-old who was kept from starting the season with his new club after winning the Copa Libertadores with Internacional. Despite his absence, Sandro is keen to get his career underway with spurs and is excited for the Champions League: “It is a pleasure to finally be here. I am extremely happy that I have been given the opportunity to join a club like Spurs.”

Gudjohnsen joins Stoke.

Stoke City’s new signing Eidur Gudjohnsen was at one point a priority for Harry Redknapp this summer, who loaned the Icelandic striker from Monoco last season. Gudjohnsen was an influential component in Tottenham’s fourth place finish last term but was unable to extend his stay with a permanent contract. The former Chelsea star signed for the Potters yesterday, just hours before the transfer window closed.
