Every morning A Different League searches the nations press to bring you the latest goings on at Chelsea. Today:

Transfer day round-up.
It was a quiet deadline day for Chelsea with no new signings arriving at the club. The only action the Londoner’s were involved in was Franco Di Santo’s move to Wigan. The striker’s £2m transfer to the Latic’s had been widely expected and he reportedly has joined the club on a three-year deal.
Begiristain new director of football.
According to Vital Football Chelsea could be set to make Txiqui Begiristain their new Director of Football. He was Director of Sport during Joan Laporta’s Presidency and was involved in the club’s great successes over these years, including winning the Treble. Laporta was replaced by Sandro Rossell over the summer, however, and he also proceeded to bring in his own new staff which saw Txiqui leave his post in June. Journalist Guillem Ballague has revealed that: “from what I`m told, Txiqui will become the new Director of Football from the beginning of January.” Roman Abramovich is reportedly highly impressed by Barca’s La Masia institution where the likes of Lionel Messi, Xavi and Carles Puyol were developed and wants something similar put in place at Chelsea. As Txiqui was heavily involved at La Masia, he believes he would be the ideal candidate.
Terry injury latest.
John Terry has revealed that he has been carrying a hamstring injury since the World Cup. The Daily Mail reports that this is the reason why the Chelsea captain is sitting down England’s opening Euro 2012 qualifiers. Terry has been ordered to rest for the next ten days and he told Chelsea TV: “'I have had a bit of a problem since the World Cup and I was hoping after the World Cup that I would have two weeks off and it would completely go away. But that wasn't the case and, coming back working hard, it came back on. I played the last England game but I had to come off at half-time because of it,' he said. 'I have not made it public but I have been struggling with it and maybe I just need 10-days rest to fully get over it because it could impact on my season.”
Drogba considers international retirement.
Didier Drogba has made himself unavailable for selection for the Ivory Coast’s African Cup of Nations qualifier against Rwanda and coach François Zahoui believes he may not return. According to the Evening Standard, Drogba feels he is too tired to play both for Chelsea and his country as he had to have a hernia operation after the World Cup and he is still working his way back to full fitness. Zahoui stated: "Drogba is a world-class player who is indispensable for the Elephants but I had to respect his decision. We will let him recover his mental and physical strength and pray he comes back some day." Portugal’s Paulo Ferreira has retired from international football, despite being called up for their first two Euro 2012 qualifiers and injured Branislav Ivanovic is not expected to play a part in either of Serbia’s openers, despite travelling to Belgrade with his teammates. He stated: “There is a very slim chance I might recover for the Slovenia game but it is unlikely because the verdict is I could be out of action for up to six weeks.”
