Chelsea news - Mexes set for January move, Sturridge knuckles down, Blues to miss out on Lukaku
Every morning A Different League searches the nations press to bring you the latest goings on at Chelsea. Today:

Sturridge knuckles down.
According to the Mail on Sunday, Daniel Sturridge is working hard to show that he has the right attitude. The striker, who has been earmarked as a long-term successor to Nicolas Anelka, has in the past been accused of being greedy and complacent. Sturridge, however, has admitted that he has matured since his time at Manchester City and he declared: “I have realised what football is all about. Going to a big club shows you that it is not only about playing, it is about things off the park, too. I don’t go out trying to get drunk or anything like that. I don’t think about anything but kicking a ball and trying to get into the Chelsea team. The bad press I’ve had has made me think I just have to get my head down and not worry about the talk. It hurts to hear people saying that City let me go because I was big-headed and wanted the money. I left to win trophies and we won the Double last season. I have no regrets at all.”
Blues to miss out on Lukaku.
Chelsea target Romelu Lukaku could be set for a winter move to Inter Milan according to Imscouting.com. The 17-year-old is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in Europe and has been touted as the next Didier Drogba. He currently plays for Anderlecht and scored 18 goals in 43 appearances last campaign and has already hit three goals in seven games this year. The striker has also caught the attention of Liverpool and Real Madrid, but France Football reports that Lukaku will join the Nerazzurri when the transfer window reopens. Inter are particularly keen to sign the promising youngster as they failed to make any significant additions to their squad this summer.
Mexes set for January move.
Caughtoffside.com reports that Chelsea are interested in signing Philippe Mexes. The centre-back is out of favour at Roma after the arrival of Nicolas Burdisso and he has reportedly stated: “If I don’t find space in the first half of the season then I may decide against renewing my contract” Carlo Ancelotti is an admirer of the French international and he also feels that Chelsea need some defensive back up after Ricardo Carvalho’s move to Real Madrid in the summer. Mexes has spent six years in the Italian capital but he could be tempted by a January move to the Premier League and the Blues would be able to secure his services for around £4m.
