Every morning A Different League searches the nations press to bring you the latest goings on at Tottenham. Today:

Gallas impresses.
William Gallas played his first game for Tottenham Hotspur last night in what finished a 3-1 victory over Queen Park Rangers for the Reserve team. Spurs assistant first team coach Tim Sherwood said he was very impressed with the Frenchman’s performance, who may play a more critical role in the first team with Michael Dawson absent through knee injury. Sherwood told the club’s website: “He showed how he squeezes play up the pitch, how he uses his body and he manages the game superbly.”
Defoe injury not serious.
England’s 3-1 win over Switzerland last night proved costly for two of London’s managers. Theo Walcott was stretchered off after just ten minutes and was taken to hospital, but X-rays showed no broken bones. Jemain Defoe also left the field of play on a stretcher but has told The Sun he will be fit to play West Bromwich Albion on Saturday: “I've just got to rest it. I'll just keep icing it and I'm sure I'll be OK.”
Young deal not dead.
After a summer of no-go rumours involving Ashley Young, Tottenham are reportedly readying a £14m deal for the Aston Villa winger when the transfer window opens in January. Earlier reports suggested Young may have joined Spurs in the summer but a deal could not be finalised before the transfer window closed at the end of August. But now talkSPORT have revealed Tottenham will go for their man in the new year, using Robbie Keane and Jermaine Jenas as leverage in the deal.
