Man City news - City eye Lavezzi, Savic signs, Tevez non-sale option

By Luke Ricketts

Wednesday 06 July 2011

City eye Lavezzi.

According to the Daily Mail, Man City are already in the market to replace their want-out striker Carlos Tevez and believe Napoli’s Ezequiel Lavezzi could be the man for the job. Roberto Mancini’s agent Giorgio De Giorgis insists his client is already searching for someone to fill the void soon to be left by Carlos Tevez and has been in talks with the Italian club for some months about the transfer of Tevez’s international teammate Lavezzi. Giorgis also suggested Gareth Barry may be used as makeweight to meet the player’s full price of €31 million.

Tevez non-sale option.

Carlos Tevez may be forced to stay at Manchester City next season regardless of his wish to return to Argentina so he can be with his family, The Telegraph report. Tevez revealed on Monday that he was suffering from home sickness and misses his two daughters who live in the Argentine capital of Buenos Aires, but Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed al Nahyan will not give in likely to his talisman’s desires and has put an immovable £50 million price tag on his head as his only means of escape. Inter Milan has expressed their interest in the 27-year-old but must sell players first before they can afford his hefty bill. Manager Roberto Mancini appears to have already succumbed to his captain’s request and is looking to appoint Vincent Kompany as his new skipper.

Savic signs.

Stefan Savic has completed his move from Partizan Belgrade to Manchester City for a fee of £6 million. The Montenegro defender impressed in his country’s goalless draw against England last October and has been closely monitored by City and Arsenal ever since, both eager to strengthen their back line for the new season. Speaking to the Daily Mail, Savic spoke of his excitement of getting to know his teammates on a personal level: “It is a dream come true and I’m especially looking forward to meeting Edin Dzeko and Aleksandar Kolarov because they both speak my language and come from the Balkans, too. Aleks has already phoned me to welcome to City which makes me feel at home already.”
