Arsenal news - Nasri to be offered record deal, Motta agent talks down move, Stalemate with Barca over Fab

By Luke Ricketts

Friday 08 July 2011

Nasri to be offered record deal.

Arsene Wenger is willing to make Samir Nasri the highest earner at Arsenal if it means keeping his prized midfielder. Reports in the London Evening Standard suggest Wenger is willing to raise the Frenchman’s weekly pay cheque to £110,000, £50,000 more than what he is earning now. Nasri rejected a contract worth £90,000 a week during last season, but Wenger hopes his new and improved offer will be enough to lure him into signing a new contract, despite commenting earlier in the week he wanted to leave the club in search of silverware and with Manchester United hot on his heels.

Motta agent talks down move.

The agent of Thiago Motta has doused any rumours of his client moving to the Emirates during the transfer period. Talk from Italy suggested the 28-year-old could leave Inter Milan this summer and Arsenal are among the many admirers who would be keen to employ his services. But agent Daniele Canovi has told Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport that Motta is happy at Nerazzurri and will continue to play his football in the San Siro so long as he is wanted there.

Stalemate with Barca over Fab.

Arsenal and Barcelona have reached a stalemate in the Cesc Fabregas transfer saga with neither club able to agree on a price. According to The Mirror, Barca are readying a £35 million bid for the Arsenal captain but it is believed to include the price of Jon Toral and Hector Bellerin as part of the deal, two players Arsenal have already signed from the European champions earlier this year. Fabregas has long been linked with a move back to the club he started at yet will remain with Arsenal until they receive what they believe to be an appropriate offer. Reports suggest the transfer could prolong into August, all the while the 24-year-old has told teammates he has played his last game for the Gunners.
