Man City news - City target £45m Aguero, Kompany new captain, Richards denies wage demands
City target £45m Aguero.
Atletico Madrid have told Manchester City that if they want Sergio Aguero they must meet their asking price of £45 million. City have already offered £40m for the Argentine but will have to add a further £5 million to their bid to see off his buyout clause. The Mail understands Aguero is eager to move to Manchester City where he will either join or replace fellow countryman Carlos Tevez, whose future at the newly proclaimed Etihad stadium is still doubtful. Juventus have already fallen at the final hurdle to sign the sought after striker, when they refused to raise their £40 million bid to allow for the buyout fee that is stated in the terms of his contract with Atletico.

Kompany new captain.
According to reports in the last ever issue of the News of the World, Vincent Kompany will be made the new club captain of Man City as soon as Carlos Tevez leaves. Goal.com revealed over the weekend that Tevez’s likely destination will be Spain as the bidding stands, with Real Madrid primed to pay £25 million plus Karim Benzema or Gonzalo Higuain. The Belgium defender missed just one Premier League fixture last season and wore the captain’s armband on a number of occasions in Tevez’s absence. The 25-year-old is also prepared to commit his future to the club and will sign a new deal that will keep him in the North West for a further five years.
Richards denies wage demands.
Micah Richards has denied rumours of demanding a six figure wage if he is to commit his future to Manchester City.
Reports in the weekend papers suggested Richards had been banking on a pay rise that would see his weekly salary increased to something in the region of £100,000, but the 23-year-old defender has hit back at the allegations and insists it is all ‘nonsense’. “They don't know what has been said, offered, or asked for,” said Richards of the rumours to Skysports, “so instead they just make up a figure which makes everyone think that I am being greedy.”
