Man City news - City rubbish Wenger comments, Ade angry, Dabo: Tevez can't force move

By Luke Ricketts

Wednesday 13 July 2011

City rubbish Wenger comments.

Manchester City have rubbished comments made by Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger who has said the renaming of Eastlands questions UEFA’s new Financial Fair Play guidelines, which will come into effect at the beginning of the new season. The new rules state a team cannot spend anymore than they earn and must breakeven after a three year period. Man City are in the process of renaming Eastlands the Etihad stadium, after the Abu Dhabi airline, in a deal that is understood to be worth £400 million according to BBC Sport. Wenger believes the stadium deal will push the boundaries of the new ruling and feels the policy can be all too easily infringed, but City have denied tampering with the huge fee and are fully committed to UEFA’s plan: “Manchester City is a pro-active member of the European Clubs Association and is working actively and with transparency with regard to financial fair play.”

Ade angry.

Emmanuel Adebayor has told Sky Sports that he feels insulted he has been left out of the squad that is currently in America on a preseason tour. The former Arsenal striker returned to training on 9 July only to find the rest of his teammates had left for the States the day before. Manager Roberto Mancini has already said to the Togo international is not in his plans having gone on loan to Real Madrid for the second half of last season, though rumour has it the player is eager to return to the Bernabau permanently. Adebayor will continue to train with the reserves until the squad return when he will be able to discuss his future with the club.

Dabo: Tevez can't force move.

Former Man City midfielder Ousmane Dabo believes Carlos Tevez is sorely mistaken if he thinks he can persuade Roberto Mancini into a sale. Tevez has publicly admitted he wants out of City and England all together in order to be with his family in Argentina, but Dabo has said he will not be allowed to leave until Mancini is satisfied with an offer. He told The Mirror: “Mancini won't be bullied by anyone that is for sure. If he wants Tevez to go, he will let him go. If he wants him to stay, he won't let him leave.” Tevez was yesterday deprived of a swift departure when City rejected a £40 million offer from Corinthians in Brazil.
