Man City news - Balotelli exit hint, Aguero should have gone to Chelsea says Forlan, Celtic Bellamy talks

By Luke Ricketts

Monday 01 August 2011

Aguero should have gone to Chelsea says Forlan.

Diego Forlan has told the People his former strike partner Sergio Aguero should have waited for an offer from Chelsea. Aguero completed his move from Atletico Madrid to Man City just last week for a club record of £38m, but Forlan believes he should have held out for a bid from Chelsea, who he feels would better suit the playing style of the Argentine. In spite of his opinion, Forlan was not surprised to see Aguero leave, having been closely monitored by a whole host of high profile clubs in Europe: “It was no real surprise to see him leave, but I thought it would have been to a different club. Chelsea’s game and squad are more suited to his style.”

Balotelli exit hint.

Mario Balotelli has made headlines for all the wrong reasons again this week after confessing to the Italian Press he does not like Manchester and is homesick. The contentious 20-year-old featured and scored in City’s 3-0 win over his former employer’s Inter Milan on Sunday, in what was undoubtedly his best preseason performance. Roberto Mancini only signed Sergio Aguero from Atletico Madrid last week as a replacement for want-away striker Carlos Tevez but may be forced back into the market after the Italian’s latest outburst. Balotelli signed for the Citizens in 2010 for £24 million but publicly declared he does not like living in Manchester and sees his future back in Italy.

Celtic Bellamy talks.

SPL’s Celtic have opened talks with Manchester City for unfavoured striker Craig Bellamy according to the Telegraph. Neil Lennon has confirmed negotiations are underway though it is still unknown whether anything has been formalised. Bellamy has seen little first team action with City in Roberto Mancini’s sovereignty and went out on loan to Cardiff City last season, but the player is unlikely to accept a pay cut from his £90,000-a-week wage. Lennon expects to know by the end of the week whether terms can be agreed, though Bellamy is hopeful he can still have a future with City despite his lack of games.
