Man City news - No Napoli Balo bid, Sorensen near City, Blanc backs Nasri move

By Luke Ricketts

Wednesday 10 August 2011

No Napoli Balo bid.

Serie A club Napoli have denied rumours they are lining up a bid for Man City’s controversial striker Mario Balotelli, according to Sky Sports. The 20-year-old and Roberto Mancini have not seen eye-to-eye in preseason, most notably down to the failed back heel he outlandishly tried in front of goal against LA Galaxy which resulted in a touchline argument between the two Italians. Balotelli admitted to the Italian Press only last month that he was not fond of Manchester living and he was missing home in Italy, though Napoli’s owner Aurelio de Laurentiis has no interest whatsoever in signing the player.

Blanc backs Nasri move.

France manager Laurent Blanc believes Samir Nasri must join Manchester City if we are to see the best from him this season. Nasri was Arsenal’s standout player in the last campaign but not even he could bring an end to the Gunner’s dire run without silverware. City are keen to sign the 24-year-old and have already had a bid of £19m rejected by his manager and fellow countryman Arsene Wenger who also has the future of Cesc Fabregas to contend with. The Mail understands a second bid of £25m is being prepared to entice the player but, like Fabregas, Wenger will do everything within his power to prevent him from leaving.

Sorensen near City.

Stoke shot-stopper Thomas Sorensen confessed to Sky Sports he was close to agreeing a transfer to Manchester City this summer. Sorensen struggled to keep his place in the Potters’ starting XI last season with Asmir Begovic the preferred choice of manager Tony Pulis. The Dane admits he is still set on finding a club that can offer him regular football, which is why he turned down a move to the Etihad stadium where he would only be second best to Joe Hart. Despite his decision the 35-year-old was flattered by City’s proposal: “If a big club is interested, of that size, you can't really look the other way.”
