Man City news - Nasri move hinges on qualifier, Lazio want SWP, Ade exit near

By Luke Ricketts

Monday 22 August 2011

Nasri move hinges on qualifier.

Roberto Mancini has implied he will not go through with the transfer of Samir Nasri if Arsene Wenger selects the Frenchman for the second leg of Arsenal’s Champions League qualifier against Udinese on Wednesday. Nasri will be cup-tied if Wenger chooses to include him in the squad, making him instantly unsuitable to Mancini who is still looking to purchase an influential player before the transfer window closes. The 24-year-old featured for the Gunners in Saturday’s Premier League defeat to Liverpool, which may shed some light on Wenger’s intentions for Wednesday’s game. Mancini spoke of the dilemma to the Daily Mail: “Hopefully, we close (the deal) in the next 24 hours. If he plays in the Champions League it is a big problem for us. I hope we can have Nasri in the next day but I don’t know when.”

Lazio want SWP.

Serie A’s Lazio are understood to be interested in Manchester City winger Sean Wright-Phillips. According to reports in The Sun, Wright-Phillips’ most likely destination is the Reebok stadium where Bolton Wanderers are close to agreeing a £2.5 million fee for the unwanted midfielder. The 29-year-old still has a year left on his contract at City though Mancini has warned he will see little first team football if he chooses to stay. The availability of Wright-Phillips has alerted a number of clubs, in England and overseas, including Stoke, Wigan and Paris St. Germain.

Ade exit near.

Emmanuel Adebayor’s possible switch to Tottenham Hotspur has the blessing of Spurs’ full-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto, the Daily Telegraph has revealed. Tottenham have been linked with the Togo striker for some time after Roberto Mancini admitted he will be surplus to requirement at Manchester City. Adebayor scored twice against Tottenham as a Real Madrid player in the Champions League last season and played for arch rivals Arsenal before joining the Citizens, though Assou-Ekotto is confident he would make a worthy addition to Harry Redknapp’s squad: “If the manager signs him it's not to finish fifth or sixth. He's a player from one of the big four and if we get a player from one of those clubs, it's for Tottenham to finish in the big four.”
