Man City news - City 40m Busquets link, Mancini: Silva one of the best, Ade no intention to return

By Luke Ricketts

Monday 12 September 2011

City 40m Busquets link.

Barcelona’s Sergio Busquets is already being rumoured to be at the top of Roberto Mancini’s January transfer list according to TuttoMercatoweb, after the manager expressed his desire to strengthen the midfield with a more defensively-inclined player. Yaya Toure joined City from Barca in 2010 as was expected to be deployed as a defensive midfielder, though the manager’s decision to use him as a more attacking player has given rise to Mancini’s yearning for the Spanish international. An offer of €40 million has already been speculated though it is unknown whether any amount will be able to convince him to leave the European champions.

Mancini: Silva one of the best.

Roberto Mancini believes his midfield maestro David Silva is one of the best players in the world, comparing him to Barcelona duo Xavi and Andres Iniesta.

The Manchester City manager is puzzled why neither Barca nor Real Madrid made a bid for the player while he was playing in Spain for Valencia: “Silva is a top, top player,” Mancini told the Mail, “I don't know why he didn't go to Barca or Real Madrid because he's Spanish but we are lucky because he's here.”

Silva has already played a prominent role in the early stages of City’s season and is expected to feature against Napoli on Wednesday when the Blues make their Champions League debut.

Ade no intention to return.

Emmanuel Adebayor has no intention of returning to Man City at the end of the season despite only joining Tottenham Hotspur on loan.

The Togo international described his bond with City as “broken” and insists he has nothing to prove to his former club. He told the Mail: “I want to help Tottenham. I have nothing to prove to Manchester City. Everyone in the country knows what I am capable of.”

The striker, who scored on his debut for Spurs on Saturday, will still have two years left of his contract with the Citizens at the end of the season and will decide in due course his plan of action concerning a new club.
