Arsenal eye £9m Valencia youngster but face tough competition
Arsenal will have to see off Barcelona if they are to have any chance of securing the services of 18-year-old Valencia sensation Francisco ‘Paco’ Alcacer.
There will be no love lost between the two clubs when bidding gets underway, as the Gunners attempt to get one back over their Catalan adversaries after Cesc Fabregas’ transfer fiasco over the summer.
Alcacer has captured the attention of two of Europe’s biggest clubs while playing predominantly for Valencia’s reserve team in Segunda B, where he has scored 33 goals from 54 appearances. According to talkSPORT, the youngster’s contract expires in 2013 and has purportedly refused to sign a new deal with the Spanish club. Despite his tender years and a lack of first team football, Alcacer already comes at a price of £9m.
