Blackpool set to loan Liverpool star Shelvey

Thursday 29 September 2011

According to skysports.com, Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has agreed to join Championship side Blackpool on loan.

Shelvey, who has seen his first team chances at Anfield limited following the summer purchases of fellow midfielders Charlie Adam and Jordan Henderson, will be looking to bolster Ian Holloway’s side as they look to compete for an immediate promotion back to the top flight.

The signing would provide welcome relief for the Blackpool boss, who has today been served with a one match touchline ban and a £2000 fine from the F.A. in relation to an incident which occurred during the Tangerine’s 1-1 draw against Coventry last weekend.

Holloway has also been bemoaning the current lack of transfer activity at Bloomfield Road and has recently reiterated his desire to bring in more players on loan: "I could give you a list of players who I really like and have tried to get in but can't. So what do I do? Give up? Walk out? Blame (the chairman) Karl (Oyston)? Blame somebody else or just keep fighting? All I can say is that I'll keep fighting."

If former Charlton midfielder Shelvey were to join, he would meet up with fellow ex Reds Gerardo Bruma and Thomas Ince who made the move to the North West earlier in the transfer window, signing permanent deals.
