Chelsea prepare £14m Cahill bid
Chelsea are set to make a £14m bid for Bolton defender Gary Cahill in the January transfer window, according to the Daily Express.
Cahill, 25, has been partnering Blues skipper John Terry in the England line-up in the absence of Rio Ferdinand, and it is thought that the Chelsea man has told management that he can form a strong partership with the Bolton centre-half.
Tottenham came close to signing Cahill on the last day of the transfer window in August, but the deal fell-though at the last moment after Spurs wanted to include Sebastien Bassong in the deal, when Bolton had eyed Jermain Defoe.
Chelsea had tried to find a perfect partner for Terrylast season with the signing of David Luiz from Benfica, however the Brazilian international has shown vulnerabilities defensively. At the age of 25, Cahill is also seen as a natural successor to Terry.
