Man City v Aston Villa: Preview and team news

By Tim Doel

Saturday 15 October 2011

The City of Manchester Stadium on Saturday hosts a meeting between two of only four sides that are currently unbeaten in the league this season. Manchester City have started the season in flying form, winning all but one of their seven ties so far this season, and currently level top of the Premier League with their local rivals Manchester United. Aston Villa have been steady, if unspectacular, drawing five of their seven games, and winning two.

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has indicated that he will consider some squad rotation for this fixture, which should see Edin Dzeko come into the side in place of the injured Sergio Aguero. Mario Balotelli should also continue up front after netting in each of his last three games.

For Villa Gabriel Agbonlahor continues up-front after scoring four in the last seven appearances, and manager Alex McLeish waits on fitness updates on Stephen Ireland, Barry Bannan and James Collins. Jermaine Jenas is out with an achilles injury.

Probable line-ups

Man City: Hart; Richards, Kompany, Lescott, Clichy; Yaya Toure, De Jong; Johnson, Silva, Balotelli; Dzeko.

Aston Villa: Given; Hutton, Collins, Dunne, Warnock; Bannan, Petrov, Delph, N'Zogbia; Bent, Agbonlahor.
