Pulis motivated to get through Europa League group stages for the fans

By Bryan Waters

Friday 04 November 2011

Tony Pulis believes that playing in the Europa League has been fantastic for the club and wants to progress to the next stage for the fans.

Stoke City are on the verge of progression through their group in the Europa League after a series of impressive performances in Group E. Pulis admits he was frustrated with the draw, which saw Stoke draw three clubs in Eastern Europe, because it was difficult for the fans to travel to the games.

Attendances from the Stoke fans home and away have still been superb and now Pulis wants to progress to the next phase, so as many fans as possible can get to the games.

Pulis said: ‘I think it has been brilliant for the supporters. It’s the first time in 30-odd years that the club has been in Europe, so the supporters have really taken to it. The big disappointment for us was that we got drawn against three teams who are all on the other side of Europe. It’s an extra motivation to get through the group and hopefully get drawn against a team, where the fans can go away en masse and have a great time’.
