Podolski puts Arsenal on alert as Koln exit likely

By Tim Doel

Tuesday 29 November 2011

FC Köln and Germany striker Lukas Podolski has admitted he could be tempted by a January transfer to the Premier League with Arsenal.

Podolski has scored an impressive nine goals in 12 Bundesliga starts this season, and has an excellent international goal-scoring recrod, netting 43 goals in 95 appearances for Germany. But the 26-year-old has now accepted that his future could be away from Cologne, putting Arsenal on alert.

"I was told the plan was to get back into Europe here (Cologne), but we have failed and of course I have to ask myself why,” Podolski was quoted in Eatsleepfootball. “My family and friends may live here and I know every corner of the city, but if I am in top condition, then I think I could fit into any side in Europe. I am not forced to stay only in Cologne."
