Liverpool eye £20m Spanish striker to solve goalscoring problems
Liverpool are reportedly interested in the services of prolific Valencia striker Roberto Soldado, according to The Metro.
Soldado, who came through the youth system at Real Madrid before moving on to Getafe and subsequently Valencia, has netted eight goals from 13 La Liga appearances this season, following on from a successful term last year that has seen him interest the likes of Tottenham and Benfica.
It is reported that Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish is looking for a striker to help turn draws into wins, after a seaosn that has so far seen them score the same number of goals as bottom-place Blackburn, with 17. Their top goalscorer is Luis Suarez on a disappointing four goals from 13 Premier League matches. Andy Carroll has two from 12, Craig Bellamy one from seven, and Dirk Kuyt is yet to convert from 11 appearances.
It is thought that Valencia have an asking price of £20m, a figure that the Reds will look to get a discount on in the January transfer window.
