Everton vs Stoke - Match preview and prediction

By Bryan Waters

Sunday 04 December 2011

Everton look to win their third successive match at Goodison Park as they entertain a struggling Stoke City.

The Toffees have struggled with injuries as of late and midfielder Jack Rodwell has not played since a rib injury on international duty. Defenders Phil Neville and Sylvain Distin are also hoping to make returns. They were deserved of a 1-0 victory away at Bolton last weekend and are beginning to pick up pace after a traditional slow start. David Moyes may be inclined to start striker Apostolos Vellios after his third goal for the club as a substitute.

Stoke City have struggled to cope with the demands of Europa League and Premier League football in the same week. Tony Pulis can call on the return of Jonathan Woodgate after his ineligibility in Europe denied him from playing in midweek. The Potters got back to winning ways last weekend with a 3-1 victory over Blackburn at the Britannia Stadium and will be looking to make more progress.

David Moyes' side are pushing back up the table and should continue their winning streak with a good win over a toiling Stoke side. The Potters will try hard, but Everton's attacking class will show through.
