Wolves vs Stoke - Match preview and prediction

By Bryan Waters

Saturday 17 December 2011

Wolves, unbeaten in their last three at Molineux, take on Stoke, who are searching for their fourth win in a row.

Mick McCarthy's men faced Manchester United last weekend and received the backlash of United's Champions League exit. Wolves will be eager to regain their form and continue their Molineux performances. McCarthy holds concerns over the fitness of Matt Jarvis and Dave Edwards with thigh and groin injuries respectively. Defenders Kevin Foley and Jody Craddock are both ruled out with injury problems. Wolves have not kept a clean sheet in their last 12 fixtures and will be looking to be stronger defensively if they want to keep themselves away from the relegation battle.

Stoke beat the in-form Tottenham last weekend at the Britannia Stadium and are coming back into a strong league position. Tony Pulis' side had struggled earlier this season to find the right balance between the Europa League and the Premier League, but seem to be coping better. Stoke are expected to keep the same side as last weekend and defender Andy Wilkinson, who featured on Thursday against Besiktas, will not be involved following a recurrence of his back problem. The Potters, however, have scored only four goals away from home this season, despite their best start to a Premier League campaign.

Both sides are in form and Wolves should be confident with their Molineux performances. Stoke have been poor away from home following Europa League fixtures and Wolves will capitalise on the Potters' trip to Turkey with a win over Stoke.

Well non of the starting 11 went to Turkey, so I struggle to see how we will have a European hangover.
