Frimpong up for a fight at Wolves

By James McLean

Monday 02 January 2012

Wolves’ new loan signing Emmanuel Frimpong has declared himself raring to go ahead of his debut against Chelsea this afternoon, according to Express & Star. The 19-year-old, who joins from Arsenal, said: “I want to be involved in a battle – that’s what my game is about so being where we are is nothing new for me. I’m a player who likes to fight and do everything for the team to win.

“I’m going to bring that spirit to the team and hopefully we can climb the table. It’s been a quick step up and I’ve learned a lot. Hopefully I can carry on doing that and bring something different to the squad here.” Frimpong, who has made 14 appearances for the Gunners this season, was not involved in the 1-1 draw between the two sides on December 27, but it is believed that the loan deal was struck sometime after the full time whistly.

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy is delighted with the capture, but has not ruled out further business in the transfer market. The 52-year-old said: “Manny Frimpong is a really great signing. He’s a terrific young player. He’s an all-action, tough-tackling midfielder who can pass it. I’m delighted Emmanuel is available because we need fresh players. We’ll be continuing to try to get players in but I’m delighted with the business we’ve done so far.”
